In our hotel “Zum Grunewald” in the Dinslaken district of Oberlohberg, tradition can be felt. Our house has been family-owned since 1833, the restaurant business has existed since 1886. Because of the attached sawmill and timber trade, the name was created on the basis or the popular hit song of the time, “Im Grunewald ist Holzauktion (“In the Grunewald is timber auction…”), was the name that has been used to this day. Even then there were a few beds available for tired travellers.

The first hotel building with 10 rooms was built in the early 1970s. The first expansion took place in 1993 and finally, in 2000, the hotel was increased to its present size.

We have long chosen the path of sustainability for our hotel

In addition to heating with block heat (CHP), we produce solar power on our building, the lighting in the hotel has been converted to LEDs, we largely do without plastic packaging and drinks come from regional producers.

Our hotel

Our hotel is open (almost) every day! (only closed over Christmas and New Year!) Our reception hours are monday til friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and at the weekend from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.If you want to or have to arrive later, we can also store the key in our outdoor safe by prior arrangement.

Of course, our guests can reach us by phone 24 hours a day!

A drink is available in every room for those who are thirsty, and cold drinks can also be purchased from the vending machines.

Our rooms correspond to the current 3-star standard of DEHOGA. All rooms have free WiFi, a desk, TV and a private bathroom. We only have non-smoking rooms.
